What makes a good SKU structure?

Keep it short and consistent so it stays readable at a glance. A common pattern is a brand or category prefix, a product segment, and a running number, such as TSHIRT-BLK-001. Avoid spaces and characters that break in URLs or spreadsheets.

Should SKUs and barcodes be the same?

No. A SKU is your internal code and you control it. A barcode like a UPC or EAN is assigned by a standards body for retail scanning. Keep them in separate fields.

Can I use these SKUs in Shopify?

Yes. Paste them into the SKU field on a variant, or include a Variant SKU column in a product CSV import.
