The variant matrix generator turns product options into a complete variant list. Enter a title and price, define up to three options like Size, Color, or Material, and every combination becomes a row in a Shopify-ready CSV you can import directly.
Building variants by hand is one of the most tedious parts of setting up a Shopify store — three sizes times four colors means twelve near-identical rows to type out. This tool does the multiplication for you, fills in the handles and SKUs, and exports the result in Shopify's product import format. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
How to use it
- Name your productEnter the title and price. The handle is generated from the title unless you set your own.
- Define your optionsAdd up to three options like Size, Color, or Material, with their values as a comma-separated list.
- Export the variant CSVEvery combination becomes a Shopify-ready CSV row. Download it and import it into your store.
Frequently asked questions
- How many variants can a Shopify product have?
- Shopify allows up to 3 options per product, and every combination of option values becomes one variant. The traditional limit is 100 variants per product, so the tool warns you if your matrix would exceed it.
- What format does the export use?
- The download is a CSV in Shopify's product import format, with Handle, Title, Option names and values, Variant SKU, and Variant Price columns. You can import it directly under Products → Import in your Shopify admin.
- Will importing overwrite my existing products?
- Shopify matches rows by handle. If the handle already exists, the import updates that product's variants; if it is new, a new product is created. Use a fresh handle to be safe.
- Can each variant have a different price?
- This tool applies one base price to every variant. After import, adjust individual variant prices in Shopify, or edit the Variant Price column in the CSV before uploading.
