About this tool

Excel to JSON turns a spreadsheet into a clean JSON array, with one object per row and the header row supplying the keys. It reads .csv and .xlsx files.

Developers and app builders often need product or inventory data as JSON to feed an API, a script, or a static site. Instead of writing a parser, drop the spreadsheet here and get structured JSON back. Parsing happens in your browser.

How to use it

  1. Upload your spreadsheetAdd a .csv or .xlsx file. The header row becomes the object keys.
  2. Get JSON outputEach data row becomes a JSON object in an array.
  3. Copy or downloadUse the JSON in your code, a request body, or a config file.

Frequently asked questions

How are the JSON keys chosen?
The first row of your spreadsheet becomes the keys. A column named "Price" produces a "Price" field on every object.
What data types does it produce?
Values come through as strings by default, which keeps leading zeros and codes intact. Convert to numbers in your own code where you need them.
Does my file get uploaded?
No. The spreadsheet is parsed locally in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
