About this tool
The Inventory Reconciler compares two stock files and flags every SKU where the counts disagree. Upload your system of record — a Shopify or ERP export — alongside a physical count or supplier feed, and see shortages, surpluses, and items missing from either side.
It matches rows by SKU, sums quantities within each file, and reports the difference as counted minus system, so a negative number is a shortage and a positive one is a surplus. Both files are compared in your browser, so nothing leaves your device.
How to use it
- Upload two inventory filesAdd your system-of-record export (Shopify, ERP) and your counted stock file — a warehouse count or supplier feed.
- Pick the SKU and quantity columnsThe tool auto-detects them from your headers. Adjust the dropdowns if your columns are named differently.
- Review and export discrepanciesSee every SKU where the counts disagree, plus items missing from either file. Download the report as a CSV.
Frequently asked questions
- How does it match rows between the two files?
- By SKU. Each SKU's quantity is summed within a file, then compared across files. A SKU whose counts differ is flagged as a discrepancy; a SKU in only one file is flagged as missing or extra.
- What does the difference number mean?
- It is counted minus system. A positive number is a surplus (you counted more than the system says); a negative number is a shortage (you counted fewer).
- What if the two files use different column names?
- Pick the SKU and quantity columns from the dropdowns. Both files are assumed to share the same header names — export both in the same format for the cleanest match.
- How are blank or non-numeric quantities handled?
- They count as 0. A SKU listed with an empty quantity is treated as zero on hand rather than skipped.
- Can I compare more than stock counts?
- For a field-by-field comparison of two exports, use the Shopify CSV Diff tool. This reconciler focuses on quantity variance.
- Is my data uploaded anywhere?
- No. Both files are read and compared entirely in your browser — nothing is sent to a server.
